Events of Interest
This is an ongoing and current list of drum circles, pow-wows, meet ups, and events related to drumming. I focus mainly on the local Charlotte scene but I welcome all input here. If you know of an event or circle that would fit in this category please let me know about it and I can add it.
Drumming Events
-Noda Open Drum Circle
Every first and third friday of the month is a free 'gallery crawl' in the NoDa (North Davidson St.) district of North Charlotte. On these nights a drum circle emerges around 8pm and will last well into the night. If you are in the area check it out. There is usually a lot more going on than just the drum circle, so come out!
More information can be found at NoDa's web site, Or by e-mailing me.
-Charlotte Community Drummers (CCD)
Drumming with the Charlotte Community Drummers with focus on African rhythms.
This happens every first and third Tuesday from 7:15 to 8:45pm. The CCD meet-up is located at St. Andrews Presbyterian in Charlotte, NC. Please visit the CCD web site for more info, directions and an up-to-date schedule.. Please feel free to come by to participate and learn.
From the CCD Website...
To create the musical spirit in our own community, CCD plays with an “open” group on two Tuesday evenings each month (1st and 3rd Tuesday of every month). Anyone is welcome to attend FOR FREE, and no drumming or musical experience is required. Typically 12-20 people gather for basic instruction and to play various West African rhythms. No experience is required, we teach the basics for the beginners as well as new rhythms and parts for more experienced drummers. Bring a drum if you can, but we usually have a few extra djembes to share if you don't have one of your own. Come and join the fun!

-DrumSTRONG
Drum Strong is an event held in early May of each year. We drum to raise money for cancer research
and have a great time doing it. Artists come from all over to participate in the experience. Arthur Hull (drum circle facilitator)
has attended the event as well as the Charlotte Community Drummers and a vast amount of other talented artists. I will try to have a booth out there
for 2009 so keep an eye out for it! Visit DrumSTRONG - Drumming for a Cause for more info.
