RHD Purple Heart Doundounba |

These Purple Heart Doundounbas are built from 1/2" to 5/8" thick Purple Heart staves that we mill down from thicker stock to ensure uniform thickness. Purple Heart is very dense and heavy. If you'd like the thickness of your Doundounba to be 3/4" let us know, but keep in mind that this will make your drum 40+ pounds They are headed with thick Guinea cow hide with even thicknesses per drum side. We put a lot into these drums and it shows. They are loud and the bass of these doundounba roar and shake the ground!
These are custom built per order and usually take about 3 weeks. Through experimentation we have found that Purple Heart produces the loudest most resonate dununs. Rope color can be determined at time of purchase. Custom engraving is not included with the price below but we can work with you to put a logo, artwork, or tribal designs on the doundounba shell. The images are laser engraved into the wood, not painted or stenciled on.
